Tim started out playing piano and singing in the early 80's. After only 6 months he had mastered Beethoven's Für Elise and went on to study piano with Ruth Harteneck's Piano School of the East Bay. Soon after Tim was encourage by Ruth to broaden his studies and audition with the San Francisco School of Arts.

After being accepted into the School of Arts music and dance program he and another student formed a band called Divinity out of Oakland Ca. In less than a years time with Divinity and various other bands he opened for and performed with B. B. King, Chico DeBarge, Alexander O'Neil, Roger and Zapp, Rosie Gaines, Dawn Robinson of En Vouge, Dwayne Wiggins of Tony, Toni, Tone. John Parish of Madhouse Samuelle Prater and Valerie Watson of Club Nouveau. With Divinity Tim met and became good friends with hip-hop and rap producer Al Eaton who has produced such artist like Too Short, Queen Latifah , Ice-T, E40 and SWV. With Al Tim learned the basic
fundamentals of working in a studio and songwriting.
A friend after realizing the potential of his voice encouraged Tim to audition for the world renowned vocal coach Judy Davis, a vocal coach whose students included Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Mary Martin, Steve Perry and Grace Slick. Tim was accepted and for three years studied and developed his own style of raspy funk with a smooth tip. Tim quickly became known in the Bay area as a reliable sorce for your musical needs weather it be for vocals, keyboards or songwriting.
Tim by this time had ventured into the arena of songwriting. He wrote a song during this time that would later go on to win him an independent recording contract with Starmakers Entertainment through Sacramento's KSFM 102.5 Home Jams Contest.
My Musical career began at the tender age of 9 years old. I studied piano and "sang" in church of course. I was blessed with the ability to learn quickly. I studied music theory, piano, attending the San Francisco School of Performing Arts.

In 1996 Tim released the album "A Deeper Groove" under the name Black Boy through his own production company (boy toy productions). That was the beginning of the independent recording artist Timonthy Tucker.
